The Harvest Sessions with House of Hats and Carrie Tree
In Carrie Tree we have a British Jewel: ‘Jewel’ as in the American artist Carrie bears a striking stylistic resemblance to, as opposed to ‘gemstone’ (though many might argue she is both). If you like your Folk fuzzy-edged and wafting gauzily towards you, as if in a dream, Carrie will float your Folk flotilla. It’s just a shame her hushed tones weren’t mirrored by the raucous, rowdy punters who were whipped into further frenzy by the tight, polished, yet strangely soulless House of Hats. Unarguably, House of Hats have got things down pat, yet their output feels more Mumfords than Marling and somehow slightly lacking for it.
