Pair charged after van crash in Brighton

A man and a woman have been charged with a series of offences after a stolen van crashed in Brighton.

They were arrested by Sussex Police officers after a white Renault Trafic van crashed at the roundabout at the Mill Road junction with the A23 London Road in Patcham shortly before 2am on Tuesday (11 February).

The van had been stolen from Marine Drive in Eastbourne on Monday (10 February).

Mark Tatnell, 34, of Meads Road, Eastbourne, has been charged with three counts of burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, failing to stop for police officers, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and driving without insurance.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court in March.

Tylar Wickens, 18, of Clement Lane, Polegate, has been charged with three counts of burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.

She has been released on bail to appear at Lewes Crown Court at the same time.
