Woman robbed in Brighton alleyway

A 43-year-old woman was robbed in a twitten – or alleyway – in Brighton as she walked home.

The woman was in the twitten at the junction of The Crescent and Hillside in Moulsecoomb at about 8.30pm on Saturday 8 February when a man approached her from behind.

He demanded that she hand over her valuables and took two diamond rings and her wallet containing cash and bank cards. The man then ran off.

The robber was described as black with very dark skin and between 5ft 7in and 5ft 9in tall. He was wearing a black puffa jacket.

Detective Constable Leon Howe said: “The alleyway is close to many homes so there is a chance someone will have seen the man entering or leaving it at about the time of the robbery.

“If you saw the man, recognise his description or saw anyone behaving suspiciously near the alleyway please contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
