Femrock 1st Birthday Party

The organisers of this monthly feminist music night really pushed the boat out for their first anniversary and put together a great line-up to perform to an on-message crowd, with all proceeds going to local LGBT charity Mind Out. MC Holly Handful provided sweary poetic interludes and introductions for the mixed line-up that began with Emily Franklin’s passionate performance covering multiple genres, including a scorching Janis-like take on Little Walter’s ‘My Babe’. Drum/guitar duo Arx obliged the rock fans but returning headliners Astrid’s Tea Party’s set of rocky, electro power pop stole the show. Many happy returns Femrock.
