Significant early interest in East Thames’ Kings Park development

East Thames’ Kings Park development in Harold Wood, Havering is enjoying strong early sales of its shared ownership homes as locals take advantage of an affordable option to get on the property ladder.

10 homes were reserved on launch day at the development’s dedicated marketing cube at The Liberty Shopping Centre, Romford and 917 people have registered interest in the development to date.

Shared ownership allows first-time buyers to purchase a share in a property from a housing association, paying them an affordable rent on the remaining share.

Shared owners can periodically buy some or the entire remaining share in a process called stair-casing.

Sharon Shaw, East Thames’ interim head of sales and marketing said, “With rising house prices and a reduced supply of new homes in densely populated east London, shared ownership has become a more attractive option for many first time buyers. The interest in Kings Park so far has reflected this.”

Kings Park is a stylish selection of one and two bedroom apartments and three bedroom houses funded by £7.4m from the Mayor of London.

The contemporary new homes, based in a picturesque parkland setting in Harold Wood, Havering include 145 properties for shared ownership and benefit from generous landscaped communal space including children’s play area, parking and bicycle storage.

The homes will offer balconies or terraces with wooden decking as well as fully integrated kitchen appliances. Moving to Kings Park, residents will get all the benefits of energy efficient living.

In terms of location, the new homes are less than half a mile from Harold Wood train station, giving easy access to central London and Romford’s many shops, market and leisure facilities such as a health club and cinema.

The ground breaking Crossrail link means the development will benefit from even better connections in the future.

If you’re interested in buying a home at Kings Park and live or work in Havering, you can visit the development’s show home, which can be accessed via Nightingale Crescent, RM3.

It launches on Saturday 1 March 2014 and will open from 10am-5pm Wednesday-Sunday. Alternatively, you can contact the East Thames sales team on 0845 600 0830 or visit www.kingspark-sharedownership.co.uk.
