Trio Isimsiz

Piano trios are a perfect fit for chamber music performances, with the piano providing both an impressive visual centrepiece and a clear melodic lead. The young, all-male Trio Isimsiz started with Haydn’s ‘Piano Trio in D’, and the short but moving piece was brightly played with some beautiful flourishes. Beethoven’s robust trio in C minor was far more invigorating, finely timed and balanced however, and Erdem Misirlioglu’s subtly intricate piano playing was a highlight. The lengthy Schubert trio in Bb was a labyrinthine piece, testing the patience and lacking a little oomph at times. The players navigated through the twists and turns deftly though, and the brisk, loud finale elicited warm applause.
