The Knicker Lady
What’s the difference between briefs and knickers? What’s ‘a pair of passion killers’ or ‘a liberty bodice’? These questions and far more besides were answered by Rosemary Hawthorne in her very entertaining one-woman show. Set in a vicarage jumble sale, Rosemary pulls knickers left right and centre, and in doing so provides a historical blow by blow account of the undergarment. And very interesting it was too. The balance between humour, education and performance was spot on. And in explaining the evolution of knickers you also saw an evolution of taste, fashion, vanity, material development and pleasure. A hidden delight!
