SICK! Fesival: Seven lives

Seven children, one glass box and a future that’s creeping ever closer…

What did the future look like when you were approaching your teens? How did the trials and tribulations of adult life look when your body, brain and relationships were changing at an overwhelming speed?

As part of SICK! Festival 2014, German/British performance company Gob Squad present a live show with children. A rare and magnificent opportunity to witness seven lives lived in fast forward. As the audience observe them in a “safe-room” made of one-way mirrors, the children onstage peer into the future at themselves as adults, and nostalgically back at their recent past.

This will be the last ever performance of this international hit, which has toured Europe, Japan, the US and Australia. As the performers approach the next phase of their lives for real, they give a final insight into complexities of adolescent experience. A short presentation will follow, with Jonathan Green (Professor of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Manchester) alongside members of the cast, exploring what actually goes on in our brains during the transition.
