Dar Williams

The New Yorker entered the Studio bar to a warm reception and the love remained throughout her 80 minute set. Selections from her 20 year career were all given dry-humoured introductions, notably on the wistful ‘Beauty Of The Rain’ and ‘Spring Street’; a personal take on New York bohos. At her best when celebrating the simple things, she displayed great poignancy when singing of family life and a favourite childhood babysitter and proved she could crank it up on stirring renditions of ‘The Ocean’ and the indie-esque ‘Alleluia’. All requests were graciously honoured but unfortunately there was no time for an encore.
