Home Secretary Theresa May visits Brighton’s Aids memorial
Home secretary Theresa May visited Brighton today (Friday February 28) to discover more about what the city is doing to tackle hate crime.
After meeting PCSOs in the St James’s Street area, she joined Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby in visiting the Aids memorial.
In a moving moment the Tory frontbencher laid flowers in memory of those who have lost their lives to the disease.
Ms May’s visit was one of a number across Sussex in recent months as she lends support to MPs in marginal constituencies.
Mr Kirby’s biggest threat to retaining his seat at the general election in 2015 will come from Labour’s Nancy Platts.
