Need For Speed

Although a fair bit of the dialogue was clichéd, and the soundtrack flagged up plot points rather heavy handedly, Aaron Paul acted his socks off to Dominic Cooper’s moustachio-twirling baddie and the stunts and driving are great fun in this latest rival to The Fast & The Furious’ audience. It won’t necessarily leave its mark in a major way, but Need For Speed is very enjoyable escapism that clearly enjoyed its influences from Wacky Races, Smokey & The Bandit and the aforementioned The Fast & The Furious franchises. I did laugh, and that might not have been the aim of the film, but it meant I enjoyed my time with the film as stunt-laden fun with the occasional quip.
