African Night Fever

Now in its twelfth year of African-based shows, tonight’s featured act were Grupo Lokito who blended Congalese and Latin styles to produce a sound that sits between The Bhundu Boys and Buena Vista Social Club. This was a party from start to finish with the lead vocalist successfully engineering a dance class that kept 99 per cent of the crowd moving throughout the two sets. An excellent band, with standout performances from the keyboard player, lead guitarist and bass player who doubled up on Spanish lead vocals for the energetic Salsa numbers. A great night enjoyed by band and audience alike.
