Russell Brand: Messiah Complex
Russell Brand is an engaging, thought-provoking, articulate and highly entertaining ‘bit of a pillock’. Still the little boy lost as he nears 40, you get the impression this is not an act and as such his sincerity and playfulness won over the entire Brighton Centre. There is a cult-like adoration from his fans, which he encourages whilst breaking down that barrier between performer and audience adroitly, so difficult to traverse in such large spaces. Entertaining, fun – you may not agree with everything he says but his motives are to get you to think about it, rather than follow blindly. The anti-messiah, if you will. A worthy and enjoyable use of a Saturday night.
