Franz Ferdinand
Although they might have lost their freshness in the British guitar scene, the Scottish indie band are still writing solid pop songs and putting on a great show. Some of the taut newer material sounded a bit more spirited than the older songs in fact. The light design was impressive and theatrical, well suited to the large stage, and the quartet all exuded charisma and confidence. The whole affair was spiky mainstream fun, filled with distinctive twangy guitar work, and ‘This Fire’ provided a gutsy finale, raising the volume and the atmosphere. The set would have perhaps been more memorable if they were as raucous earlier in the set however.
