Sam Carter Trio with Sam Sweeney

Strumming and picking aplenty, but with a less-then-merry folk set, The Sam Sweeney Trio jammed about love that ‘Flattens you like a pheasant on a country lane’, taxi rides home misconstruing football and, ‘Dreams that are made of money’. Alongside songs that made no sense whatsoever and American gospel shape note hymns, all making it rather tricky, in a good way, to decipher which were heartwarmingly autobiographical and which were creatively conjured up. The upbeat harmonic duets with Sam Sweeney on the fiddle completely stole the show.
