Brighton armed siege police unable to find weapon
Police have been unable to find a weapon after an armed siege in Brighton yesterday (Monday 7 April).
Traffic was brought to a standstill as Lewes Road was closed in both directions and several roads were sealed off around the Vogue Gyratory.
A suspected gunman was held after three hours after the siege began.
Sussex Police said: “Further to our releases yesterday the 34-year-old man arrested is still in custody for interview and further inquiries.
“No weapon has yet been found and inquiries continue to trace it.
“The Firearms Act offence on suspicion of which he was arrested is the alleged possession of a firearm with intent to cause the fear of violence.”
