Iain Matthews

Playing at one of his favourite venues, Singer/Songwriter Iain Matthews performed in the relaxed manner you’d expect after a long musical career.

Matthews, formally MacDonald, born in 1946 has been writing and singing since he was twenty. Influenced by rock & roll and folk, he’s released many albums, although his commercial success has been mainly covers. Clearly talented as a storyteller, he wrote, ‘The Letter,’ after hearing a radio interview with a woman who’s fiancé, Frankie, went off to fight ‘a politician’s war’, in 1944 and never returned. When 16 years later a missing letter he’d written her arrived in the post!
