Brighton Marathon

Brighton Marathon
As Official Partner for the Brighton Marathon Volunteer Programme, American Express® once again supported the Brighton Marathon on 6 April 2014. Over 40 American Express employers participated as volunteers on the day, handing out medals to runners and providing post-race support.

Meanwhile, over 60 runners raised thousands of pounds for local children’s charity Rockinghorse. The money raised is for a new specialist unit at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital’s Emergency Department.

Grant

Grant raises awareness
Grant Oliver, of South East Coast Ambulance Service, ran Brighton Marathon in support of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

“I knew running my second Brighton marathon wasn’t going to be easy. It’s a huge commitment. Months of training and preparation are required with no guarantee of even making the start line.

“However, running for a charity makes it all worth while. This year the charity to choose was made easy for me. Last summer a good friend and colleague of mine lost his battle with Leukaemia. Phil was the joker of the ambulance station and is sorely missed by everyone there.

“Fourteen months ago another good friend and colleague of mine was diagnosed with a Lymphoma. It was a inoperable life threatening condition. It is due to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research that my friend Kelvin received life saving treatment and is now in remission.
“I’d like to make people aware of the great work and life saving research this charity provides and with our help will continue to provide.”
