Decorator with Brighton links found crushed to death at recycling centre

The body of a 28-year-old decorator with Brighton links has been found in a recycling centre in West Sussex.

Staff found the body of Ben Farr at Ford waste centre on Tuesday (22 April).

Post-mortem tests found that Mr Farr, of Stonehouse Drive, St Leonards, died from crushing injuries. His family have been told.

Sussex Police said that officers were called shortly before 9am on Tuesday to reports that a body had been found at the Rudford Industrial Estate near Ford.

Detective Inspector Jim McKnight said: “It is likely that Ben’s body was brought to the site by lorry having been taken from a commercial refuse bin.

“The refuse bin could be from a number of locations but is likely to be from a coastal location in West Sussex.

“His death is being treated as unexplained and the investigation is ongoing into the circumstances.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard from Ben from (Tuesday) 15 April to contact police with information as we are trying to build up a picture of his movements.

“Ben had links to St Leonards and Hastings and was also known to frequent the Brighton area.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101.
