Celebcity: Fringe Begins

Claire Sweeney, Steve Coogan and Urban Art

With the start of the Brighton Fringe Festival this week, this year’s hot ticket has to be Urban Art Fest in association with ArtRepublic and Ink_d galleries. The spray-can extravaganza will be a giant celebration of some of Europe’s hottest street artists including Pure Evil, Zeus (taking the easyJet flight from Amsterdam), homeboy Cassette Lord plus a myriad of others. Not only will you be able to see some huge murals at the hub site in the disused Circus Street market, but fans can spot art on other walls around the City – more news via this column in the coming weeks on the prime viewing sites. The festival takes place over the May bank holiday weekend. Be there.

Pizza Paparazzi
Brighton is one of the most popular hen and stag weekend destinations in the country and we hear that soap and stage actress Claire Sweeney joined in the hen celebrations of a pal in the city. One of her stops was to wisely line her stomach at celebrities’ favourite Italian eatery Donatello. The recently single Sweeney was not the only celebrity hen to dine at the Lanes’ pasta hotspot – as everyone’s favourite slapstick comedian, Miranda Hart, also partook in a spot of early dining before hitting the clubs.

Spotted
Steve Coogan, having a rather more upscale Easter jaunt than Ms Price, was seen taking his vintage Aston Martin with the top down for a spin on the coast road in Roedean. The Alan Partridge star is currently gracing our screens with his old pal Rob Brydon in The Italian Trip. If you haven’t seen the show, make sure you catch it while you can.

Family Holiday For Jordan
Brighton pin-up girl Katie Price took advantage of the long Easter break to take the whole family, including new hubby Kieran and baby son Jett, to the rather unusual Cape Verde islands. The 35-year-old mother of four shared a load of her holiday pics via her twitter feed @misskatieprice where we were treated to her and Kieran posing in matching day-glo pink tops and matching tans whilst quaffing bubbly on a sun lounger – classy! Katie told her followers “First family holiday with baby Jett LOVING it here the weather so good too Cape Verde all the way”.

Just Deserts for fatboy
Norman Cook AKA Fatboy Slim – our favourite DJ and Portslade resident played a triumphant set at the hippest US festival Coachella last week. Norman played alongside Pharrell Williams, Beyonce and Outkast to name but a few. The weather, normally guaranteed in Palm Springs, didn’t turn out as expected when a huge sandstorm blew in from the desert. The inclement weather prompted the DJ to comment “Heat Sleet Rain Repeat”. Clever Norman.

Andre Away
Meanwhile Peter Andre has been spending quality time with fiancee Emily MacDonaugh and baby Amelia before heading off for a major UK tour. Medical student Emily will return to the University of Bristol to finish her degree which she cut short when she fell pregnant with the couple’s first child.

Bare Necessities
Jungle Book fans might be interested to know that author Rudyard Kipling’s old house is up for sale in the quaint village of Rottingdean.
