Two people face Brighton court charged with racist abuse

Two people from Portslade face court after being charged with being racially abusive in separate incidents.

On Thursday (1 May) Steven Kelsey, 30, of Meadow Close, Portslade, will appear before Brighton magistrates after an incident in Hove.

Kelsey is accused of shouting racist abuse at a member of the public in Hove.

Sussex Police were called to Blatchington Road at about 4.30pm on Wednesday 2 April to a report that a man was being abusive to an Asian man in the street.

Kelsey has been charged with using threatening and abusive language and causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress.

He was released on bail.

On Thursday next week (8 May) a woman is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court accused of racially abusing a taxi driver in Boundary Road, Hove, on Tuesday 18 March.

Suzanne Lorraine Forster, 41, of Warrior Close, Portslade, has been charged with using threatening and abusive language with intent to cause racially aggravated harassment, alarm or distress.

She is also currently on bail.
