Celebcity: Boy band Blue at Pride

Boy band Blue at Pride, Natasha Kaplinsky, Adele’s new playhouse & End Of fundraising event

Feeling Blue
With less than three months to go until the hottest date in the city’s calendar, Pride have announced that multi-platinum selling, award winning boy band Blue will join the line up on the festival’s live stage on August 2. The band have sold over 15 million records worldwide and have recorded with industry legends Elton John and Stevie Wonder. Tickets for the Preston Park event are selling with record speed and entries for the Parade are coming in thick and fast. The Parade theme for 2014 is ‘Life’s a Disco’ and we literally CANNOT wait to see the floats and walking groups in this year’s line-up. Other Pride events you just have to get involved with are the ever popular Doggy Pride, which takes place on Sunday 20 July at Hove Rugby Club and – new for 2014 – the Pride Rainbow Run; a 5k fun run around Preston Park on Sunday 27 July. Every kilometre of the run route will have a station where competitors will adorn themselves with disco accessories – think feather boas and leg warmers! Tree cheers for Natasha
ITN news anchor and East Sussex resident Natasha Kaplinsky has hit the news this week with reports that she has applied for planning permission for a 26 foot children’s tree house in the back garden of her Sheffield Park home. The Strictly Come Dancing winner has submitted plans for a split level tree house with a built in play room, slide, monkey bars and swings. It’s been a very busy week for Natasha as she is currently fronting Save the Children’s Below the Line campaign; she is surviving on just one pound per day in an effort to understand what is it like to live below the poverty line and of course, to also raise money for anti-poverty projects around the world. End Of!!
Brighton based actress Julie Graham teamed up with author and journalist Julie Burchill to organise a fund raising bonanza last Tuesday called End Of. Hove Town Hall was the venue that hosted a plethora of TV stars, musicians and writers that all came together to raise money for RISE, the charity that provides incredible support for victims of domestic violence. Guests were treated to live performances by singers Linda Lewis, Tracey Thorn and the fabulous Alison Moyet. Other guests included actress Jackie Clune, writer Suzanne Moore and Times columnist Caitlin Moran. Organiser Julie Graham said after the event:

“Being involved with the End Of event raising money for Rise was one of the proudest moments of my life. We were blown away by the volunteers and performers who gave up their valuable time and generously shared their expertise and talent (not to mention incredibly expensive equipment free of charge!) to make it an unforgettable evening and more importantly raise a whacking load of money for Rise. We hope to do it all again but we need a lie down first!! End Of!!!!”

You can still donate to RISE by JustGiving just text RISE15 and the amount you would like to give to 70070.

Kidding around
Not to be outdone, Grammy award winning songstress and Celeb City favourite Adele has also got in on the kiddies playhouse action, reportedly shelling out 15,000 on one for her 18-month-old son Angelo.
