Hedwig & The Angry Inch

With its diamond shaped set, it was like being on stage with the band as they kicked off with their heavy rock opener. This outlandish yet poignant stage and film piece is a gig, monologue and ensemble effort combined to make for a captivating, funny and excellently executed show. The band were well-rehearsed but the supporting actors seemed a little nervous. The titular character, played coquettishly by Fintan Shevlin, absolutely stole the show, improvising with local references while getting up close and personal with the audience and thoroughly deserved the standing ovation. A unique revival that felt fresh and truly exciting.
