Hove cyclist injured by car after being blown off bike by wind

A cyclist was taken to hospital after being blown off his bike by the wind and then hit by a car.

The incident took place at about 3.55pm yesterday (Sunday May 11) in Wilbury Road, Hove.

Police said a 30-year-old local cyclist was unseated by a strong gust of wind near the junction of Eaton Road. He fell into the road and then hit by a car which was travelling behind.

The cyclist was treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for a severely bruised foot but was later allowed home.

The man driving the car did stop at the scene but left, with his female passenger, without exchanging details.

Those investigating said there is no description of the car.
