Tiata Fahodzi – The Legend of Hamba
The world premiere of this colourful, contemporary outdoor theatre presents the fable of Hamba through three Ages of Man – Conquest, Excess and Harvest. The four performers explore the consequences of survival through war, royalty, poetry and crime using music, voice and movement.
Hamba means ‘walk’ or, ‘let’s go’ in Ndebele, one of the three languages of Zimbabwe. It also conveys a spirit of progress, motion and vitality.
Tiata Fahodzi, Theatre of the Emancipated, is a leading British African theatre company and was co-nominated with Soho Theatre for an Olivier Award in 2010, for Oladipo Agboluaje’s Iya-Ile.
