Ours Was The Fen Country

Creator Dan Canham recorded conversations with people of East Anglia fens for two years, resulting in fascinating oral histories filled with natural pauses and the flow of normal conversation. The stories and opinions were both hilarious and poignant, such as a funny tale about an eel trapper duping a camera crew. The four performers would sometimes recite the dialogue, mime over it, or dance along with a Nils Frahm-type moody piano soundtrack. The movements were evocative of the desolate fens, with bodies undulating like the rain or wind and the whole performance was well choreographed and moving.
