Off the rails? It’s time to get back on track

It’s great news for students travelling to Sussex Downs College with the extension of Southern Railway’s Unizone student ticket to include travel to Eastbourne and East Worthing.

The Brighton Unizone discount previously covered stations east to Falmer. The extension now provides unlimited travel to stations between Eastbourne and East Worthing from this week (19th May). At just £15.30 a week, the ticket is a cheaper option for students travelling to attend Sussex Downs College, which has campuses in Newhaven, Eastbourne and Lewes.

The Southern Unizone discount is open to students with a valid NUS card and a rail photo ID card.

Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd comments: “The Unizone is an excellent concept and it had never made sense that it didn’t reach as far as Eastbourne. I have been calling for the Unizone’s extension alongside the Brighton Students’ Union in for some time now, and I am very pleased that this has been so successful.”
