Judy Speaks

This one-man-show is Gregoire Aubert’s brave attempt to bring to life the inner turmoil of the late, great Judy Garland in her final years, as she speaks her memoirs into a taciturn tape machine. Unfortunately it needs a lot of work. We don’t expect him to look like her, or to sing like her, but Gregoire can’t disguise his French accent and sometimes the words are unintelligible. He does however clearly transmit to the audience her deteriorating mental health, but there needs to be less ranting and more vulnerability, which is what made the real Judy so loveable.
