Brighton and Hove commuters warned of delays after person hit by train

Brighton and Hove commuters were told to expect delays, cancellations and diversions this afternoon (Wednesday 28 May) after someone was hit by a train.

Network Rail said that it was told about the incident, which happened in the Horley area, just after 5pm.

The train involved was a Brighton to Bedford Thameslink service operated by First Capital Connect.

Train operators were reported to be trying to arrange replacement bus services.

On Friday (23 May) someone died after being hit by a train at Balcombe.

Passengers returning to Brighton and Hove were delayed and diverted. Some criticised the train companies for seeming ill prepared for a foreseeable disruption to services.

On Saturday afternoon (24 May) a 46-year-old railway worker died when he was electrocuted as he fell on to a live rail at the St Leonards West Marina Depot.
