The Globe Theatre: Much Ado About Nothing

The Globe Theatre touring spectacle rages on, this year with the Bard’s Spanish outing of love, family feuding and deceit. Your classic blueprint for a rip roaring comedy, right? Well nearly. It bubbles away thanks in part to the ‘will they won’t they’ barbed duelling of Beatrice and Benedick: the Elizabethans’ Ross and Rachel, if you will. For this outing we find ourselves in Espanola circa early-to-mid-1900s. The lights never dim and neither does the energy or the fizz of excitement. The updated musical interludes and scene change tunes are really delightful and add atmosphere. A wonderful theatrical experience.
