Suspected Brighton doorstep conman due in court

A 26-year-old Sussex man is due to appear before Brighton magistrates this morning (Wednesday 4 June) accused of carrying out three distraction burglaries in the area.

He was arrested yesterday (Tuesday 3 June) by officers from Sussex Police. The force has been investigating a number of incidents involving doorstep conmen calling on vulnerable people.

Thomas Cserenyecz, 26, of Woodland Vale Road, St Leonards, has been charged with burgling three homes within a few streets of other.

The incidents were reported to have taken place in Down Terrace, Brighton, on Thursday 15 May, in Freshfield Street the next day and in Freshfield Road on Wednesday 21 <ay.

Bank cards, cash and jewellery were stolen from the victims.

Sussex Police said: “A man has been charged with committing three distraction burglaries in Brighton after being arrested on Tuesday (3 June).

“He is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (4 June).”
