West Pier pillars removed from Brighton beach ahead of i360 construction

Columns from Brighton’s West Pier have been removed in the first stage of the construction of the i360.

The cast iron pillars have been in place four metres below the pebbly shore since the Victorian attraction was built in the 1860s.

It is the first part in the project to build the i360 viewing tower.

The pillars will be salvaged and form part of a memorial garden at a nearby seafront site.
