Brighton sports coach charged with sexually abusing two girls

A sports coach from Brighton has been charged with sexually abusing two teenage girls.

Martin O’Hara, 49, of Medmerry Hill, Moulsecoomb, has been charged with five offences of indecently assaulting a teenage girl in Horsham from 1993 to 1996. She was 14 to 16 years old at the time of the alleged offences.

O’Hara has also been charged with four offences of engaging in sexual activity with a teenage girl in Henfield from 2008 to 2011. She was 13 to 15 years old when the alleged offences took place.

He has also been charged with sexually assaulting the same girl in Henfield in 2011 or 2012.

He appeared at a plea and case management hearing at Lewes Crown Court today (Monday 16 June) when he denied the offences.

O’Hara has been released on bail until Monday 16 February when he is due to stand trial in the crown court.

Sussex Police said that the charges were authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service after an investigation by detectives specialising in child protection.
