Morecambe

Morecambe was a tour de force from actor Bob Golding, not merely impersonating the variety icon but inhabiting the skin of the comic, complete with twitches, funny noises and third-wall obliterating. This new production of Tim Whitnall’s Olivier Award winning play beautifully directed by Tim Hendy, and with a set that was both classy and without frills, rested on the shoulders of one man – but with unstoppable energy that was hard at times to believe and timing that was second to none, Golding carried it with grace and a wiggle of his specs and a glint in his eye, leaving us with an impression of a performer who was never off duty, was highly likeable, but never seemed to stop. A delightful and heart-norishing visit to a classic showbiz story that warms your cockles. With added short far hairy legs.
