Portslade level crossing barrier gets stuck down

Queues of traffic built in the area around Portslade Station during the rush hour this morning after the level crossing barriers became stuck while they were down.

Gas main work was already taking place in Victoria Road, Portslade.

An online traffic alert suggested that the gas main work was affecting drivers in Boundary Road, Hove, and Station Road and Carlton Terrace, Portslade.

The work has been exacerbating the delays in one of the area’s busiest roads.

With the level crossing barriers closed, drivers were also affected in the surrounding area including in Old Shoreham Road and the link road from the Brighton bypass.
