TAKEPART Festival Launch Day

This weekend kicks off the city’s festival of sport, dance and active lifestyles

This Saturday (June 21) sees the launch of TAKEPART festival at Preston Park – it promisies to be a fun-packed and vibrant day. Come along with friends and family and get involved with one of the largest community sport, dance and active lifestyles events in the country. Organised by the Sports Development Team at the city council, the festival includes a wide range of sports and activities suitable for all ages and abilities. Enjoy performances and demos, talk to club members or just chill out with some refreshments.

Activity zones at the park:
Disc Zone – Ultimate Frisbee and disc golf. New for 2014!
The Adventure Zone – Climbing, orienteering and sailing
The Play Zone – Activities and clubs for under 8s
Racquet and Ball Zone – Handball, volleyball and beach tennis. New for 2014!

Amazing Zone – A dedicated zone for disabled adults and children, with its own marquee and timetable of activities during the day.

AMAZING ACTIVITIES for disabled adults, children and young people at Preston Park launch day and during the festival

Inclusive Activities:
Table Tennis, Judo, Petanque and Bowls, Access Beach – at Paddle Round the Pier, Cricket Boccia, Multi Sports and athletics, Climbing Wall, All Ability Bikes, Zumba

In addition to inclusive sessions we are working with clubs to offer tailored sessions such as:
Wheelchair Rugby, Wheelchair Football, Sound Tennis for the visually impaired, Learning disability Healthwalk, Inclusive hockey for hearing impaired, Indoor cricket for adults with learning disabilities, Wheelchair basketball

TAKEPART in the City
Thursday 3 July. New Road 5pm – 8pm. FREE!

Pop along with friends and enjoy an alternative evening in town!

Make the streets your playground as New Road is transformed for an evening of free sports activities, dance and fitness displays.

Try your hand at pavement golf, bowl down the middle of the road, or get your hips hula hooping! There will also be fun ping pong games, and dance and martial art performances plus much more in between. Come along and try something new!
