Behind the scenes of Latest TV with Richard Shayler
Stars & bars
The English summer has landed. Sun, rain, sun, some clouds and then a bit more rain. But here at Latest TV, we are nowhere near as indecisive. We’re committed to providing everyone out there with the most fantastic content possible. Whatever the weather!
The launch of our new entrepreneurial programme, Young Start-up Talent, took place at The Latest Music Bar. The show is much like Dragons’ Den, but for teenagers. We’ve been filming the trials and tribulations of all the youngsters involved, which we will then be releasing as a series when Latest TV launches.
I was filming the event, and was amazed at how much talent really was in the room. And that was just when I was setting up!
We heard all about the scheme and had some influential guest speakers as well. Comedian and Latest TV’s flagship show presenter Lynn Ruth Miller gave a thought-provoking and sentimental presentation about her professional career. Some bloke wearing a cap called Bill Smith gave an inspirational speech about business and TV. I thought he was one of the young start-up talenters but apparently he’s CEO of Latest TV! Spritely young thing (flattery will get you everywhere, readers). There was a drinks reception and a buffet too. What a day, what talent, and what a show it’s going to be! Watch out Richard Branson, take note Warren Buffett, the youngsters are coming!
Guy Lloyd also has many talents. He’s good at talking, good at getting into places for free and he’s also great at 6am raves! The Brighton Lights crew went down to Shooshh night club on the seafront to join The Morning Gloryville team for a morning rave. Great pick-me-up before work! And after all that raving, the team visited the Temple Bar on Western Road to attempt The Burger Challenge.
The premise for the challenge is, basically, just to see whether anyone can eat a giant burger with a bucketful of chips to boot. You’ve got an hour to do it and if you succeed, your name goes up on the wall. Go down and take a look — Guy’s name might be on the wall. Then again it might not, it might just be Guy slumped in the corner dribbling burger juice and chip fat. Either way, check it out.
And now to the sports team. Ahh, those young strapping lads. Always up to no good. Causing mischief. Never doing any work. They spent the day playing golf on Friday. They assured me it was for work. I didn’t believe them, so demanded to go along. Just to make sure they were working. Obviously. Then one thing led to another and we were all playing golf! And I can assure you dear readers that it was work… just about. We were there for the Mid Sussex Golf Course Charity Fundraiser. What a great day and for a fantastic cause too, Lots of swinging, lots of balls and lots of water features. I’d do it all again if I could.
Come rain or shine, burgers or morning raves, golf clubs or up-and-coming businesses, Latest TV will be there. And we will capture it all so that everyone out there can enjoy it!
See you next week, or on the next PGA tour…
