Radio Katie
Whilst we’re still reeling from the shock of husband Keiran’s cheating antics, model and Sussex girl Katie Price seemed to have put all that behind her last week as she made her debut on digital radio channel FUBAR. Katie, currently pregnant with her fifth child, is sharing the microphone alongside Channel 4 funny man Mark Dolan.
The show, which launched last Tuesday, promised that presenter Katie would not be shy about vocalising her opinions and sharing her sometimes controversial views on the hot topics of the day. You can listen to Katie and Mark’s show every Tuesday on FUBAR radio from 10am until 1pm.
ELEPHANTASTIC
On Friday 4 July a very special exhibition will be opening in a pop-up space in the Lanes. World renowned artist, Louise Dear, who has now decided to live in our fair city, opens a very special pop-up show with a cause. Louise will be painting a lifesize baby elephant (pictured here) which will be in situ until 3 August, in addition to showing some of her stunning new works. The reason behind the elephant? The show will not only be a rare opportunity to see Louise’s vibrant work but a percentage of the sales will be donated to the high profile charity The Elephant Family – which helps raise much needed funds and awareness of the Indian elephant.
You can see Louise at work in the venue which is at 23 Brighton Square, right opposite Donatello. Give her a wave! We have two VIP tickets for the private view on 4 July. Just send us an email (info@jb-pr.com) and we’ll pick a winner out of the hat.
The father, the son and the psychic goat
ITV breakfast news show Good Morning Britain set up their live cameras in local Italian restaurant Donatello last Friday. Presenter Louisa Jameson was surprising sparky (at 6am) whilst interviewing co-owners Pietro and Miekele Addis prior to the world cup England v Italy game. The story of the piece was that Miekele supported England whilst father Pietro supported the Italian side – this made for a great breakfast news story, with plenty of flag waving and Italian football singing. At one point the show cut to a psychic goat called Betty who was asked to predict the score (she got it wrong, by the way) but whether you are an England or Italy fan you cannot beat Donatello for the best coffee in town!
DOING IT DOGGY STYLE
Entries are still open for Brighton’s equivalent of Crufts, as this year’s Doggy Pride takes place on Sunday 20 July. This highlight of the canine calendar is a much needed fundraiser for the Rainbow Fund as well as being one of the most flamboyant events in the city. The event is sponsored by Coastway Veternary Group who are long supporters of the event. Brighton Pride’s Dulcie Weaver said of the event: “It’s a fantastic day out which is full to the brim with happy dogs and dog lovers alike. I especially love the cheeky category called ‘The owner the judge would most like to take home’, and can’t wait for this most fabulous of doggie days”. For more info, go to: www.brightonpride.org
OIL WILL BE REVEALED
If you appreciate a painting by an old master, or indeed a new one, and you can’t be bothered to make the journey to one of London’s museums, then head down to Ink_d Gallery on North Road for their latest offering: Pushing Paint. The exhibition is a celebration of one of the oldest art mediums known to man – oil paint – and certainly stands up to some of the recent London art shows I have seen. Highlights include a large oil portrait of Dolly the sheep!
