The Brian Jonestown Massacre

Touring their solid recent album ‘Revelation’, the Brian Jonestown Massacre seemed determined to shake off their bad reputation (gained through their volatile dynamic in superb documentary ‘Dig’) and be considered as a serious touring band. They didn’t disappoint at this sold out show, with the 8 piece band keeping up a pleasurably lolloping languid pace and chiming guitars ringing in enjoyable pop songs. The sound was mildly bewitching and melodic but it was the positive atmosphere in the crowd that lingers most in the memory, proving that people generally enjoy having a good time and wishing they were in the sixties together.
