Brighton college to host recruitment day for apprentices

City College Brighton and Hove is to host a recruitment day for people who want to become apprentices.

The event is taking place on Friday (4 July) in conjunction with Mears, the housing and maintenance contractor which has a base in Moulsecoomb.

Mears is in the fifth year of £200 million ten-year contract with Brighton and Hove City Council during which the company committed to taking on 200 apprentices.

City College said that the recruitment event was aimed at young people interested in apprenticeships in the construction and maintenance trade sectors.

It is due to be held in the main hall of the college’s Pelham Street campus with two sessions scheduled at 9am and 1pm.

The event is also intended to give young people a chance to find out about administration apprenticeships with the company.

Mears partnering manage James Cryer said: “We’ve built up an excellent working partnership with City College in recent years so it makes a lot of sense to pool resources when it comes to recruiting new apprentices.

“City College provides the ideal welcoming environment where young people will feel encouraged to come along and chat with us about what apprenticeships with Mears involve.

“I look forward to recruiting some excellent new apprentices who will buy into the Mears ethos of a commitment to customer service and high quality work.”

Sam Ingram, sales adviser for the college’s City Apprenticeships Team, said: “Mears have shown their commitment to investing in the future of Brighton and Hove by training local people and providing job opportunities in the communities they serve so City College is proud to be working in partnership with them to provide training for its apprentices.

“I think these events provide a fantastic opportunity for aspiring apprentices to come along and find out what opportunities are available to them.”

To book a place at the recruitment day, contact Sam Ingram at SI1@ccb.ac.uk. Those interested are asked to say whether they want to go to the session at 9am or 1pm.
