Stanmer House Beer & Music Festival

Gastro garden gala

This month, Stanmer House brings you their American Independence Day Beer and Music Festival on 4–6 July.

Following on from the success of last year’s Pride and Prejudice Beer and Music Festival, Stanmer House are proud to be hosting a weekend full of beer, music, good food and fun for all the family. The free event is open to one and all, dogs too, if they’re part of the family. The event is part of a series of beer festivals run across the Whiting and Hammond sites throughout the summer. Grab a copy of W&H’s Gastro magazine from Stanmer House for all the listings.

The festival opens on Friday evening and you’re welcomed through the ‘saloon doors’, through which you can expect to find 30 real ales and ciders showcasing some fantastic local breweries from across Sussex with some real treats to tantalise the taste buds. Tasting notes will be available to guide everyone through the selection, connoisseur and novice alike. Not forgetting those who prefer their drinks a little fruitier, there will be a summery Pimms bar.

To accompany the many beverages on offer, visitors can tuck into the delights from the BBQ with classic fare like burgers and sausages, and for the more adventurous there will be some special treats from the Stanmer House smokery. If you’ve seen Stanmer House at the Brighton and Hove Food Festival then you’ll be pleased to see their hugely popular sausage rolls and scotch eggs aplenty, on a dedicated food stall offering guests a selection of homemade goods.

To get the toes tapping, a great selection of live bands will play across the whole weekend highlighting some top local talent including the Stanmer House Band. There’ll also be entertainment for the kids too, so everyone should be kept happy while the sun shines and the beers flow freely.

Stanmer House is a beautiful Grade 1 listed 18th century manor set in 5,000 acres of stunning parkland, which is unique for its Brighton location. Set in the heart of Sussex countryside, nestled between the sea and the Downs, Stanmer House is only 10 minutes from the bustling city centre.

Steeped in history, the house has been beautifully restored and encompasses stylish and contemporary designs while retaining the original splendour of the house.

The fantastic restaurant spreads across three decorative rooms in the house with views opening out on to the perfectly mown lawns. Open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, guests are welcome to come and relax by one of the open fires with a coffee, meet friends for a drink in the house bar or celebrate a family occasion in the private dining room. The food is cooked by the in-house team of award-winning chefs using locally sourced, quality ingredients. The wine is interesting and quaffable and the ales will be highly favourable and well kept.

Visitors are more than welcome to explore the house and grounds, and celebrate everything that is great about the British country pub at Stanmer House. Parking is available on a first come first served basis, but the best thing to do is catch the bus. The number 25 runs to the bottom of the park which is a 15 minute walk through lovely countryside up to the house, and the 78 runs right past the house on Saturdays and Sundays. Further details on the event will be available on the website: www.stanmerhouse.co.uk.
