Police hunt after two people stabbed in Brighton park

Two people were taken to hospital after being stabbed in a Brighton park.

Police were called to Dorset Gardens peace park, off Edward Street at about 3pm on Saturday July 5 to deal with the incident.

A 43-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman both received stab wounds to their backs.

The man was treated and released from hospital the same day. The woman’s injury was more serious and she remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Police said there were two suspect.

One is described as black, in his 20s, approximately 6′, of muscular build wearing a bright blue hooded top and dark trouser.

The second suspect is described as white, also in his 20s, slightly shorter than the other man, slim build wearing a grey hooded top.

Both men had their hoods up.

Detective Inspector Mick Jones, of Sussex Police, said: “This took place in a busy area during broad daylight and we are appealing to anyone who was on Dorset Gardens around 3pm and might have seen a small group of people in the park area.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who was on St James’s Street or Edward Street and might have seen people matching this description in the area.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Alfa. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
