Brighton rape suspect arrested
A 35-year-old Brighton man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 24-year-old woman in a pub toilet in the town centre.
The man has been released on police bail until Monday 22 September while detectives continue their investigations.
The woman reported being raped in the toilet of the Fishbowl pub in East Street, Brighton, in the early hours of Saturday 28 June.
Sussex Police said: “Police have arrested a man on suspicion of the rape of a woman in a pub toilet in Brighton.
“A 24-year-old woman was raped in the Fishbowl pub between 1.30am and 3am on Saturday 28 June.
“A 35-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of rape and has been bailed until 22 September while investigations continue.
“Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses.”
Anyone who saw anything in the pub on Friday 27 June or in the early hours of Saturday 28 June is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk.
