Brighton detectives ask for help identifying March for England brawlers

Detectives have asked for help identifying people suspected of taking part in a street brawl after the March for England in Brighton.

The fight happened at the junction of North Road and Gardner Street outside the Dorset pub and Infinity Foods shortly after 2pm on Sunday 27 April.

Sussex Police said: “This serious incident is believed to have been in connection with the march and counter-protest which had taken place on the seafront earlier on in the day.”

Detective Inspector Vicki Harris, who has been leading the investigation, said: “Our attention has been focused on this nasty incident which happened in front of a lot of people out shopping and we are determined to catch these people

“This behaviour was completely unacceptable and we will not tolerate it in our city.

“We know someone will recognise these men and women and we are appealing to those people to give us a name.

“Some of these people we believe to be from the Sheffield area. However, some of them could be from elsewhere in the country.

“On the day we made 27 arrests connected to some disorder in the city and six people have been charged and a further six were fined or caution and we are determined to bring those who were also involved to justice.”

Anyone who recognises those pictured is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

A video was filmed from inside the pub as tables, chairs and glasses were flung.
