Keep up with the vinyl trend at this year’s Brighton Records Fair
For the record
Soak it up this summer at Brighton Records Fair! There are free stalls for fan clubs and charities, and reduced rates for new sellers. The Fair is a huge, diverse event, with over 500,000 items on sale in all music formats from all genres.
So, what reasons are there to sell vinyl at Brighton Records Fair?
One: sales are increasing. Sales of vinyl albums in the UK increased by 101% in 2013 and over one million were sold; the best year since 1997. Make 2014 the year to exceed this figure, and take up the opportunity to sell records at a premier venue on a buzzing area of the seafront, with a guaranteed captive audience.
Two: there are new markets to tap into. New bands and established artists are now producing special vinyl editions of new recordings, and re-issues of their major albums.
Three: vinyl is on trend. Records are being featured extensively in every kind of media, books, plays and movies; the average record buyer is likely to be under 35 years old. Record sales are booming.
Four: vinyl is eco-friendly and sustainable, and Brighton Records Fair is in the business of recycling. Records were originally made from a by-product of oil production, with records going round and round the recycling circuit several times.
