Stage: Rock Around The Clock
Its time to shake, rattle and roll all the way back to the 1950s at the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne this summer, as the American jukebox musical Rock Around The Clock comes to town from 12 – 16 August.
Travel back to the time of Teddy Boys, quiffs, Brylcreem, poodle skirts and blue suede shoes, when the world was taken over by the brand new sound of rock ‘n roll!
This show is a non-stop cavalcade of hits from artists including Buddy Holly, Bill Haley and His Comets, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Elvis Presley, The Platters and Jerry Lee Lewis, with songs such as ‘Great Balls of Fire’, ‘Jail House Rock’, ‘Blueberry Hill’, ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll’, ‘Good Golly Miss Molly’, ‘Johnny B. Goode’ and many more.
The cast of singers, dancers and musicians are infectiously enthusiastic and sure to get your feet tapping and hands clapping. The fun and vibrancy of this era of music is celebrated, and the feel-good factor is sure to stay with audiences long afterwards.
Rock Around The Clock is a veritable hit parade of rock ‘n roll classics, which was originally devised for a casino in Monte Carlo and has gone on to play to audiences the world over.
