“Flytipping crackdown required” in Brighton and Hove after new figures revealed
It is a criminal offence that happens on a near daily basis.
But new figures have revealed that since 2011 there have been a total of only two prosecutions for flytipping in Brighton and Hove.
Although prosecution is stated as a last resort with penalty notices being issues before action is taken, some believe that more can be done to catch those guilty of foul play.
Latest TV did ask to speak to a politician about the lack of prosecutions but no one was available.
A council spokesman did say it was difficult to bring them forward as they rely on witnesses to come forward.
Latest TV’s Javier Douglas reports.
