Great British Menu judge’s firm walks away from prestigious Brighton catering deal

He is more famous as the harsh judge of other people’s food.

But Oliver Peyton’s catering firm has caused a right stir after it walked away from a multi-million pound deal to provide food at drink at some of Brighton’s most famous venues.

Peyton and Byrne – which is run by the Great British Menu judge – signed a seven year deal worth £20 million only last year to run the eateries in Brighton’s museums and Royal Pavilion.

However 18 months in, the firm has decided to walk away from the deal claiming it does not fit in with their core activities.

It means Brighton and Hove City Council now has just a few weeks to decide what to do to ensure staff get paid and people have a place to eat.
