Brighton Marina: Kirsty Pollard on Creatures Of The Deep – the children’s ‘make and take’ summer workshop
Every Wednesday throughout August, Brighton Marina will be hosting a summer programme of free children’s make and take workshops (August 6, 13, 20 & 27).
Back by popular demand, check out the weekly (topical!) sea creature themed art workshops, ‘Creatures of the Deep’ (COD), as this year they’re luminous. Our summer programme is hosted in partnership with local arts charity Same Sky, the award winning education and charity group.
Every Wednesday, Same Sky artists will create colourful sea creatures and fun for all the family to join in. Each workshop will offer three ‘make and take’ stations, creating different versions of the same sea creature, offered to suit a variety of ages and abilities. Workshop stations will include 2D and 3D creations, including headdresses and masks, jewellery and scratch art, flags and wind-socks and hand held creations using luminous foam, stickers, pens and paper to bring the creatures alive.
Sessions will run from 11am – 4pm and the aquatic themes change weekly:
Weds 6: Angler fish
Weds 13: Jellyfish
Weds 20: Octopus
Weds 27: Shrimp
Come to 35 Marina Square, Waterfront, Brighton Marina, BN2 5WA, to join in the fun!
In between the arty stuff, you can also enjoy free outdoor games: ping pong and chess tables are located in Marina Square, and you can grab a bite to eat at a great choice of cafes, bars and restaurants or take a stroll exploring the marina stores, too.
There is no need to book for the workshops, simply drop in and let the kids get creative. There’s a 24-hour bus service (number 7) and free parking available for 1,500 marina visitors’ vehicles (time limits apply).
