Calls for statue marking contribution of Brighton’s Great War veteran Henry Allingham

Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby is leading calls far a statue to commemorate Brighton’s Great War veteran Henry Allingham.

The Conservative politician believes the move to mark Britain’s oldest World War veteran would be a tribute to all those who fought in the conflict.

The Brighton Kemptown MP has written to Defence Secretary, Michael Fallon MP, asking him to consider publicly funding a statue for the late Ovingdean resident.

If approved, it would be erected in Whitehall.
